Stemming from the minds of participants in the “European Youth Eco-Parliament,” World Non-Waste Day has emerged as a potent emblem of environmental consciousness. Led by PRO EUROPE, an organization uniting entities within the Green Dot recovery system, and supported in Poland by Rekopol, this initiative has garnered momentum since its inception.
Since 2007, May 11th holds particular significance in Poland as the day marks the inception of the country’s packaging waste management system, in accordance with EU Directive 94/62. With the adoption of laws by the Polish Sejm on May 11th, 2001, regulating entrepreneur responsibilities in packaging waste management, later amended in 2013, this date serves as a cornerstone for environmental stewardship.
