“You behave like hounds unleashed on the president.” Bogucki sharply criticizes Tusk’s allies

“You behave like hounds unleashed on President Nawrocki because he stands up for Poland’s interests. You unleashed the same industry of contempt against the late President Lech Kaczyński. You attacked him in the same way, calling him names that were absolutely disgraceful. You denied him the right to make decisions, you did not even want to call him the president. This is a road to tragedy,” said Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the Chancellery of the President, addressing members of the December 13 coalition during a speech in the Sejm.

Bogucki to the December 13 coalition: “You behave like hounds”

During the Sejm session, Zbigniew Bogucki delivered a speech in which he commented on attacks by members of the December 13 coalition against President Karol Nawrocki in connection with his veto of the SAFE loan bill.

“You behave like hounds unleashed on President Nawrocki because he stands up for Poland’s interests. You speak about betrayal. Where were you when the Territorial Defence Forces were being established? Where were you when Law and Justice (PiS) was building the wall on the border? Where were you when funds from the European Union were being blocked? Where were you when Polish soldiers were being spat on?” Bogucki said.

The politician emphasized that “President Nawrocki does not need to be taught patriotism.”

“This is the first time I have seen someone receive such loud applause after such a defeat. I understand that you keep a very tight grip on your party. I would prefer these to be applause encouraging cooperation with the president – to proceed with the presidential bill on the ‘0 percent Safe’ program or not to give away Polish sovereignty,” he stated.

He also added that “there will be no SAFE debt burden for future generations as long as Karol Nawrocki is president.”

They want to abolish the CBA. Bogucki’s strong response

He then referred to a bill proposed by the December 13 coalition that would abolish the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.

“I do not know of any government in democratic Europe that would want to abolish an institution fighting corruption. I can already tell you today that this dream will be futile. Nothing will come of it. Along with corruption, unemployment returns – especially among young people. That is your trademark, Mr. Prime Minister. Together with corruption and unemployment, is the third trademark of these governments also supposed to return – poverty? The president will not agree to that,” he indicated.

Then, addressing Donald Tusk directly, he said:

“Instead of abolishing the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, abolish the central anti-budget bureau that exists in the Ministry of Finance. Abolish the central anti-constitutional bureau that exists in the Ministry of Justice. Abolish the central anti-education bureau that exists in a well-known ministry. Finally, abolish the central anti-investment bureau, because today Poland has no investments. I deeply believe that Poles, in their wisdom, will abolish this central bureau of negligence and failure – your cabinet – no later than 2027.”

Attack on the Constitutional Tribunal

Bogucki also commented on the December 13 coalition’s plans concerning the Constitutional Tribunal.

“Together with the attempt to abolish the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, you want within 48 hours to arrest the Constitutional Tribunal. You had two long years – the first positions in the Tribunal became vacant in December 2023. Nothing was done in this regard. Now you want to abolish another constitutional institution that is supposed to keep an eye on those in power. The president will certainly not allow this. This is not supposed to be ‘militant democracy’. What has been happening for the past two years has nothing to do with democracy. This is supposed to be ‘total democracy’ – a total takeover of the state and all its institutions. This is anti-democracy,” he declared.

The industry of contempt

Finally, he pointed out that the campaign of hatred directed at President Nawrocki could lead to tragedy.

“You unleashed the same industry of contempt against the late President Lech Kaczyński. You attacked him in the same way, calling him names that were absolutely disgraceful. You denied him the right to make decisions, you did not want to call him the president. This is the road to tragedy. Withdraw from it, because history will not forget this,” he stated.
