“I was supposed to receive a summons to the prosecutor’s office for last Friday. I was supposed to appear before prosecutors. My lawyer contacted them after receiving such information in order to clarify the matter. It turns out that someone forged my signature, and the prosecutors claim that someone accepted the summons on my behalf, making it legally valid,” said TV Republika CEO Tomasz Sakiewicz on air today.
“Today, my lawyers informed me that in the case well known to the public – when I was supposedly to be questioned as a witness, but in reality as a suspect in the case involving Zbigniew Ziobro – it turns out that I was meant to receive a summons for last Friday and appear at the prosecutor’s office. My lawyer contacted them after receiving that information in order to clarify the matter. It turns out that someone forged my signature, and the prosecutors claim that someone accepted the summons on my behalf, making it legally valid,” Sakiewicz said on TV Republika.
“We are dealing with yet another crime, another violation of the law connected with this case, which has been and remains highly publicized. The determination of those who are breaking the law solely to take revenge because they failed to arrest a man suffering from cancer who legally traveled to the United States is enormous. I am speaking about this because God knows what may happen tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, or even tonight in connection with this case,” he added.
Tomasz Sakiewicz also noted that at the time the summons was allegedly signed for, he was attending a funeral ceremony.
Prosecutors Target TV Republika’s CEO
At the beginning of June, the National Prosecutor’s Office summoned TV Republika CEO Tomasz Sakiewicz for questioning as a witness for a second time, setting the hearing for June 11, 2026. Investigators demanded that the station’s CEO provide “all documentation related to the employment of Zbigniew Ziobro by TV Republika S.A.”
“Unfortunately, I cannot appear before the prosecutor’s office because not only was the deadline not respected, but I also have a court hearing that day, for which my attendance is mandatory,” Tomasz Sakiewicz said on June 9.
Tomasz Sakiewicz at the Prosecutor’s Office
The prosecutor’s office led by Waldemar Żurek and Dariusz Korneluk did not back down and once again summoned Tomasz Sakiewicz for questioning.
The first questioning of Tomasz Sakiewicz by the prosecutor’s office headed by Waldemar Żurek and Dariusz Korneluk in connection with the Zbigniew Ziobro case took place at the headquarters of the National Prosecutor’s Office on May 20, 2026.
“I declared my full readiness to testify if I am summoned by a legally appointed prosecutor and if the scope of the summons corresponds to the matter on which I am to be questioned. They wanted to question me in the case discussed by the prosecutor’s office leadership, but not in the case that was actually the subject of the hearing,” the TV Republika CEO said after leaving the May hearing.
After exiting the prosecutor’s office building and addressing demonstrators gathered outside, Tomasz Sakiewicz stated that “no one at the National Prosecutor’s Office is capable of drafting a proper summons.”
“This demonstrates either a complete collapse in the understanding of the law or a complete lack of interest in complying with it. We are witnessing an unbelievable embarrassment for the prosecutor’s office. It is astonishing that even while trying to set a trap for me here, they were unable to draft a summons correctly. This shows that the end of this system is approaching,” he declared.
Moreover, following the hearing, on May 25, the prosecutor’s office decided to impose a fine of 3,000 PLN on Tomasz Sakiewicz for allegedly “unjustifiably refusing to provide testimony.”
