President Andrzej Duda and First Lady are attending the three day meeting in Warsaw.
The 8th nationwide Large Families convention under the patronage of the presidential couple began today in Warsaw. The slogan of the convention is ‘The Warsaw Uprising will remain with us’. During the three-day meeting, the participants will commemorate the 76th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising.
Organizer of the convention Paweł Borządek noted that special requirements that this year’s participants are to meet: The 8th Large Families convention is taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is why we had to do everything we could to make sure that the convention is safe for everyone.
Gabriela Borządek: We’re issuing the ‘KEN’ cards which are very special, because the convention is taking place on the 76th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. This convention is very special because of this anniversary, and we want to commemorate those who lost their lives during the uprising.
Paweł Borządek: We came up with the idea of presenting the Warsaw Uprising to our participants quite recently. We thought this was a great occasion for the large families to participate in these celebrations with us. Not only did we want to present a re-enactment of the Warsaw Uprising, but we also wanted to touch on very important subjects, and we wanted the participants to see what happens at the ‘W’ hour.
The Large Families convention is a big, joyful, three day long meeting with over 1,000 participants every year. Tomorrow, the participants will, among other things, follow the path of the Warsaw Uprising in small groups of 20 people, and at 5pm, commemorate the heroes of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
The 8th Large Families convention will last until August 2nd. It will end with a mass at Warsaw Cathedral, and with a joint photo in front of the Warsaw Uprising monument.
