Paweł Wąsek Shines in Oberstdorf, Kraft Takes the Lead in Four Hills Tournament

Paweł Wąsek impressed with a top-10 finish at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, defeating Karl Geiger. Meanwhile, Austrian Stefan Kraft claimed victory, and other Polish jumpers struggled.

Poland’s Paweł Wąsek delivered an outstanding performance in the first competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf. Wąsek soared 137 meters in the first series, defeating German favorite Karl Geiger in the KO duel and securing a ninth-place position at the halfway point. Despite a slightly shorter jump of 130 meters in the final round, Wąsek maintained his composure and finished 10th overall, marking a significant achievement for the Polish team. Unfortunately, his teammates struggled; Piotr Żyła (120.5 m) and Aleksander Zniszczoł (123 m) failed to qualify for the second series, while Jakub Wolny, who landed 121 meters, barely advanced and finished in 30th place.

The competition’s spotlight belonged to Austria’s Stefan Kraft, whose impressive 138-meter jump in the first round helped him secure victory. Fellow Austrian Jan Hoerl joined him on the podium, as Kraft became the first leader of the tournament. The next event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen promises further excitement, with qualifications scheduled for December 31 and the main competition set for New Year’s Day at 2 PM. Fans are eager to see whether Wąsek can continue his strong form and how the other Poles will respond after a challenging start.
