The area of the Gdańsk Shipyard is a sacred place and therefore it will be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Gliński announced on Monday in Gdańsk.
Gliński emphasized that the initiative of entering the Gdańsk Shipyard area on the UNESCO World Heritage List was put forward by the government of the United Right. “Because it is the public interest of Poland. And we, of course, work very intensively in this direction. We want this entry to be the first of the next entries, because we have many places in Poland that should be included on the UNESCO list,” he added. On January 31, 2019, a Polish delegation headed by deputy Minister of Culture Magdalena Gawin submitted an application for entering the Gdańsk Shipyard on the UNESCO World Heritage List. At the end of February, the Ministry of Culture announced that the World Heritage Center had positively verified the application.
