The prosecutor's office extends the investigation of the events in Puck

The investigation into the insulting of President Andrzej Duda during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s Wedding to the Sea was extended until the 10th of October, the prosecutor’s office informed.

The news was delivered today by the press spokeswoman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, Grażyna Wawryniuk.

Prosecutors from Puck have been conducting the proceedings since the 14th of February this year. The Gdańsk prosecutor’s office received several notifications in connection with the events that took place on the 10th of February in Puck when a group of people disrupted the ceremony with the participation of the President of the Republic of Poland.

Andrzej Duda was greeted with shouts: “liar”, “you will go to jail”, “State Tribunal” and “stop lying”. Whistles were heard during the speech of the Head of State. According to some media, vulgar shouts could also be heard in the crowd.

Investigators check whether there was an insult against the President at that time. This act is punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment.

“So far, no charges have been brought against anyone. The case is underway,” prosecutor Wawryniuk said.
