Kyiv is preparing to defend itself. To defend every district and every street. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on residents not to leave their homes and to take shelter every time there is a missile or bomb alert. The best way is to go down to the basement or the Kyiv metro.
The city is deserted. There are few cars on the streets and few passers-by. All services and stores are closed except for some grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations, which are still operating.
The streets are lined with barricades made of sandbags, concrete blocks and hedgehogs, or welded pipes, to hold back the tanks.
