Will Russian and Belarusian lorries disappear from Polish roads? [VIDEO]

Government spokesman Piotr Müller announced that the issue of transit through Poland would be raised at the next European Council.

During a briefing in front of Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, Müller was asked about the possibility of blocking transit through Poland and the European Union on Russian and Belarusian number plates.

“We will raise this issue again at the European Council,” he answered.

He added that he had spoken with EU Minister Konrad Szymański and the Poland Ambassador to the EU, Andrzej Sadoś.

“We are strongly determined to do so,” said the government spokesman.

“But that is the exclusive competence of the European Union,” he pointed out.

“What is dangerous will not enter Belarusian territory. What we can do is to block transports in such a way that we can inspect them very thoroughly so that nothing dangerous gets into Belarus,” said the speaker.

“At the same time from the Ukrainian authorities and the Ukrainian Prime Minister, with whom we are in contact, as well as the Ukrainian secret service, we receive all information about potential transports that could be dangerous, and then our services block these transports in more detail and do not let them go to Belarus,” he said.

At the Polish-Belarusian border crossing in Koroszczyna, there is a protest against EU trade with Russia and Belarus. Participants urge lorry drivers to turn back.
