The Second Preparatory Meeting of the 30th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum starts today in Lodz, Poland. The meeting will last two days and is dedicated to “Promoting security and stability in the OSCE area through sustainable economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“We are experiencing an extraordinary period for the OSCE – events that threaten its founding principles. The whole European security architecture is being undermined by Russia’s military aggression against a sovereign state – Ukraine,” Zbigniew Rau, Polish Foreign Minister, said at the beginning of the meeting.
“In recent months we have seen the destabilizing effect of that war across the world economy and the enhanced risk it brings to the environment,” he added.

The Economic and Environmental Forum is the main meeting cycle within the Economic and Environmental Dimension of the OSCE. Its objectives are to identify needs and priorities, to raise awareness and to stimulate the political will of the 57 OSCE participating States in dealing with economic, environmental and security-related challenges, to share best practices, as well as to provide a platform for dialogue with representatives of the International Organizations, the business and academic communities, and civil society.
