The head of the Luhansk region government Serhiy Hyderay has announced that Russian forces have been repulsed from the Lysychansk-Bakhmut route, allowing humanitarian cargoes to be transported there.
Hyderay said that thanks to the arrival of reinforcements in the direction of Popasna near Komyshuvacha, the enemy has been repulsed to a distance of two kilometres, as a result of which the Lysychansk-Bakhmut route is now less shelled and humanitarian cargoes may not travel there.
He added that the occupants were hiding in the Mir Hotel in and are suffering huge losses as they are constantly shelled by Ukrainian forces. He also pointed out that it is impossible to speak about the occupation of the city by Russian forces.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Sunday morning that there is fighting over Severodonetsk, with Russians storming the city and attacking it with artillery.
The road from nearby Severodonetsk Lysychansk to Bakhmut in the Donetsk region is an important transport route for communication between Russian-attacked areas in the Donbas and central and western Ukraine.
