Polish women’s 3×3 basketball team won the bronze medals in the European Championships. In the deciding match, they defeated Spain 16:13.
Polish representatives to the Austrian city of Graz came in the line-up: Dominika Fiszer, Klaudia Gertchen, Aldona Morawiec, Klaudia Sosnowska. On the first day, they won in the group, in which they defeated Cyprus (22:8) and Lithuania (21:16). On Sunday, they won against Switzerland by 17:15 in the quarter-final. Later, after an equally exciting match, they lost to the Netherlands by 15:20 in the semi-finals.
As a result, Poland was left to compete for the bronze medals, for which they played against the Spanish team. And initially, they dominated! A brilliant job was done by Morawiec. After her long-distance shots, the white-and-red team quickly gained a 5:0 lead. After three minutes it was 7:2.
in the middle of the meeting, however, too many mistakes started to appear in the Poles’ game. The Spanish players took advantage and equalized (8:8) less than five minutes before the end. The Spanish were even leading by 10:9 at some point.
However, the Poles reacted well. They asked for a time-out. A moment later Morawiec hit from distance, again giving the Polish team the lead. 25 seconds before the end of the match they were leading by 14:11. In the end, Fiszer played a key role. Two seconds before the end she set the score at 16:13 after the foul.
