Palace of Tarłów in Podzamcze Piekoszowski

According to the Marshal’s Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, the Palace of Tarłów in Podzamcze Piekoszowski has a new owner who will save the picturesque building from further destruction and make it a new tourist attraction in the region.

The Palace of Tarłów is an impressive historic building located in the village of Podzamcze Piekoszowski, in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship of Poland. The palace was built in the late 16th century for the Tarłów family, one of the most prominent noble families in Poland at the time.

    The treasure

There is a legend that the gold of the confederates who opposed the rule of August III Sas was hidden in Podzamcze Piekoszowski. Adam and Jan Tarło planned to overthrow the ruler and prepared the first bill, on which the Constitution of May 3 was later based, they also collected gold from their allies for the organization of the army and diplomatic activities. The king found out about these plans, which meant that Adam Tarło was forced to move the gold to another place. He was supposed to hand them over to his uncle Jan, who lived in Warsaw, during the session of the Sejm, but two days before the meeting he came into conflict with Kazimierz Poniatowski, and during a duel with him he was fatally stabbed by his second. The gold was never found.

To this day, only a roofless ruin has remained of the Palace of Tarłów. Some window frames have been preserved in the walls. The facility is open to the public and its interior is neglected.
