Polish Volleyball Team Clinches Victory Over North Macedonia at European Championships

The Polish national volleyball team secured their third consecutive victory at the European Championships, maintaining their undefeated record in Group C. Facing North Macedonia, the Polish squad, under the guidance of head coach Nikola Grbić, triumphed in three sets.

Their journey to victory began with two resounding wins in the tournament. In the opening match, they convincingly defeated the Czech Republic with a 3-0 score, setting a strong tone for their championship campaign. The second encounter saw them triumph over the Netherlands with a 3-1 win.

In the third match against tournament co-hosts North Macedonia, the Polish team seized an early lead with the captain securing the first point. They maintained control with a series of well-executed plays and quickly regained momentum. The Polish squad dominated the court, capitalizing on counterattacks, exploiting Macedonian errors, and impressively showcasing their net prowess. Subsequently, Damian Janusz and Bartosz Fornal extended their advantage, securing the first set with a resounding 25-12 score.

In the second set, the Macedonian hosts initially kept pace with the Polish team until 5-5. However, key errors on their part and reduced effectiveness in their attacks allowed coach Grbić’s players to establish a five-point lead at 10-5. Although the Macedonians narrowed the gap to 15-13, an error by Huber allowed them to level at 17-16. Despite some Polish errors, effective coaching, and a timeout at 19-19 ensured a solid finish. Poland executed flawlessly from a tie at 21-21, securing a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set, the Polish team continued to assert their dominance, holding a 7-4 lead after Bartosz Bednorz’s powerful serve. North Macedonia made attempts to catch up, briefly equalizing at 9-9 following an errant Huber attack. However, the Polish players continued to shine with their well-timed blocks, effective counterattacks, and strategic plays. Winning seven consecutive actions from the tie-break point, they closed out the third set with a convincing score of 25-14.

With three consecutive wins, Poland currently tops Group C with an unblemished record. Their next challenge awaits as they prepare to face Denmark in their fourth match on Tuesday, September 5th.
