Tragic loss of Polish volunteer in Gaza attack prompts suspension of humanitarian operations; aid efforts persist.
In a devastating Monday rocket attack in the Gaza Strip, Damian Soból, a volunteer from Przemyśl, lost his life. He was part of the humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen (WCK).
Ships carrying aid to Gaza brought approximately 400 tons of food and other humanitarian supplies, part of a transport organized by the United Arab Emirates and World Central Kitchen.
Seven members of WCK’s team, including Soból from Poland, were killed in the Israeli attack in Gaza. The organization, headquartered in the USA, announced the suspension of its operations in the region.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also extended condolences to the family of the Polish volunteer. The ministry emphasized Poland’s stance against the disregard for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians, including humanitarian workers.
Damian Soból, the Polish casualty in Gaza, was mourned by his hometown of Przemyśl and honored by the city’s mayor on social media.
