DNA Results Awaited: Is the Body Found Near Crime Scene That of Fugitive Jacek Jaworek?

The discovery of a body with a gunshot wound to the head in Dąbrowa Zielona, Poland, has reignited interest in a long-standing manhunt for Jacek Jaworek, a fugitive accused of triple homicide. The corpse was found only five kilometers away from Borowce, the site of the gruesome killings attributed to Jaworek years ago.

Early reports by “Dziennik Zachodni” indicated that sanitation workers found the body near a school, with a gun lying nearby. This proximity to the original crime scene fueled media speculation that the remains might be those of Jaworek. However, initial statements from the police and the Częstochowa District Prosecutor’s Office neither confirmed nor denied these speculations.

The situation took a twist when tvn24.pl reported that DNA tests confirmed the body to be Jaworek’s. This claim was quickly refuted by Tomasz Ozimek, the spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office. Ozimek clarified that they are still awaiting expert opinions on identification tests and the final confirmation can only be made based on such documents.

“The results of the DNA analysis are expected after the weekend, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday,” Ozimek added. Preliminary findings from the crime scene suggested suicide, with the recovery of a weapon further supporting this theory.

This is not the first time a body has been erroneously linked to Jaworek. On October 14, 2023, another male corpse was discovered in the nearby Żuraw forest, initially suspected to be Jaworek but later ruled out after an autopsy.

The community and authorities are on edge as they await conclusive DNA results which could potentially end a haunting chapter of local criminal history, or prolong a mystery that has perplexed law enforcement and terrorized locals for years.
