Since the introduction of Blik’s contactless payment feature in 2021, users have activated the service nearly 3 million times, utilizing it across 152 countries. This innovative payment method has rapidly gained popularity, especially during the summer months.
Significant Growth in 2023
In 2023, the highest number of contactless Blik transactions was recorded in July and August, with increases of 168% and 150% compared to the same period in 2022. Notably, in June 2023, there was a 108% increase in transactions compared to the previous year. The summer months, from June to August, accounted for 35% of all Blik contactless transactions made abroad last year.
August 15, 2023, marked the peak day for Blik’s international contactless payments, demonstrating users’ growing satisfaction with this service. In the first quarter of 2024, Blik recorded 518 million transactions, a 39% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Dominance in E-commerce
During this period, 51.1% of transactions were made in e-commerce, while P2P transactions accounted for 25.5%. Payments at physical terminals using a code made up 12.7%, contactless payments 7.6%, and ATM transactions 3.1%. The total transaction value reached 73.9 billion PLN, with an average transaction amount of 143 PLN.
