    Third Anniversary of the Beatification of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński and Mother Elżbieta Czacka

    This year marks the third anniversary of the beatification of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński and Mother Elżbieta Czacka, a significant event celebrated on September 12, 2021, at the Temple of Divine Providence in Warsaw. The historic ceremony, attended by over 7,000 people, was broadcast widely, allowing even more faithful to participate virtually. 

    The beatification anniversary has since become a momentous occasion in Poland. Yesterday, ceremonies were held across key religious sites, including the Archcathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, the Temple of Divine Providence, and the town of Laski, home to Mother Czacka’s life’s work.

    Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, the Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw, was a towering figure in the Polish Church and a key leader in the resistance against communism. Known for his strong moral leadership, he is remembered as a spiritual guide for Poland during times of great turmoil. Mother Elżbieta Czacka, a blind nun, revolutionized care for the visually impaired, offering a powerful example of compassion and service throughout her life.

    Blessed Stefan Wyszyński and Mother Elżbieta Czacka: Unveiling Their Legacy of Faith and Service

    At the beatification in 2021, the image of Blessed Stefan Wyszyński was unveiled by Hanna and Piotr Kordyasz, members of the Apostolic Movement “Family of Families,” which the cardinal founded in 1952. Piotr Kordyasz is also the author of *Stefek*, a book about the cardinal’s childhood. The image of Blessed Elżbieta Czacka was unveiled by two sisters, Sr. Aleksandra Maczuga and Sr. Klara Zosik, both educators at the School and Educational Center of the Society for the Care of the Blind in Laski.

    Pope Francis designated May 28 as the feast day of Blessed Stefan Wyszyński and May 19 for Blessed Elżbieta Czacka, ensuring that their legacies of faith and service will be honoured by generations to come.
