A recent study by SW Research for Grupa Żywiec’s Worlds Together campaign reveals that Poles primarily discuss everyday topics like family, work, and home over casual drinks (54%). About 40% talk about current events, while 31% delve into politics. Despite these discussions, political views often lead to conflicts, with 48% of respondents citing them as divisive.
Uniting Factors: Sport and Charity
The survey highlights that sports and charitable activities are key unifying forces, each chosen by 37% of respondents. Public fundraisers and local celebrations also foster community, with 27% feeling closer to others during such events. Yet, societal issues like minority rights and equality create divides for 20% of participants.
While 41% believe Poles lack openness to differing views, 34% seek compromise in tough conversations. To avoid conflict, many either listen without comment (39%) or use humor to diffuse tension (32%). Education in empathy and reducing media polarization are seen as essential steps toward fostering openness.
The Worlds Together campaign encourages respectful dialogue, hosting training sessions to teach constructive conversations. With education and collective effort, Poles can bridge divides and create a more cohesive society.
