A Holy Year of Forgiveness and Hope: 2025 in the Catholic Church

Polish bishops have urged the faithful to embrace the Holy Year 2025 as a time for forgiveness—both giving and seeking it. In a pastoral letter for the Feast of the Holy Family, celebrated on December 29, they emphasized that forgiveness does not erase the past but transforms the future, enabling life free from resentment, bitterness, and revenge.

    Hope for the Future
Echoing Pope Francis, the bishops reminded believers that God alone is the source of enduring hope. They encouraged the young to hold onto their dreams with courage and urged married couples to witness the strength of their sacramental bond. Seniors were acknowledged as a “treasure” for the Church and society, offering wisdom and reassurance to younger generations.

    A Rich Tradition
The Feast of the Holy Family has been part of the Catholic liturgy since Pope Leo XIII introduced it in 1890. It became a universal celebration under Pope Benedict XV in 1922. This year, Polish parishes will renew marital vows, reinforcing the commitment to faith and family.

As the Holy Year begins, the bishops’ call resonates as a universal invitation to grace, reconciliation, and renewed hope.
