The new Polish Ambassador to Great Britain, Piotr Wilczek, has presented the credentials to Queen Elizabeth II. Although the ceremony, as happened recently, took place remotely.
The ambassador went to Buckingham Palace in a horse-drawn carriage, accompanied by Lord Alistair Harrison, Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps. There he presented his credentials and had a conversation with the queen, who was at Windsor Castle and then returned by carriage to the Polish Embassy.
As usual, the ambassador offered the coachman a glass of quince liqueur after the journey and the horses a carrot.
“I had the honour of presenting my credentials as Ambassador of Poland to The Court of St James’s to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I delivered my sincerest appreciation for the close partnership between Poland and Great Britain. I’m committed to strengthening relations between our two countries,” Piotr Wilczek wrote on Twitter.
He acknowledged that, although he had diplomatic experience, such a solemn ceremony as the United Kingdom was unique.
Professor Piotr Wilczek took over the position of Polish Ambassador to Great Britain in mid-February this year. Previously, he was Ambassador to the United States.
