Today, the Provincial Administrative Court announced its ruling on the complaint against the decision by KRRiT to grant a spot on the digital multiplex to, among others, TV Republika.
The verdict was delivered at 1:00 PM. The court annulled both the challenged KRRiT decision and the resolution dated June 21, 2024. At the same time, it ordered reimbursement of legal costs to the complainant.
The verdict is not final and binding.
On June 21, 2024, KRRiT decided to allocate one of two available slots on the MUX-8 digital terrestrial TV multiplex to TV Republika. The license was signed on July 3, and the station was assigned channel number 51. The decision to award the license to TV Republika was appealed by MWE Networks Group, the broadcaster of Polska24, which lost the bid for the license.
The validity of the decision was questioned by one of the KRRiT members, Professor Tadeusz Kowalski, who claimed there was a “lack of sufficient information about the applicants.” KRRiT promptly issued a statement asserting that “everything was done in accordance with the law,” and that the applications were “thoroughly analyzed both substantively and financially.”
