Blown-Up Tracks in Garwolin County. Train Driver Saved the Train Moments Before Disaster

A dangerous incident occurred this morning in the Mazovia region. The driver of a passenger train noticed irregularities in the railway infrastructure near the village of Życzyn in Garwolin County, close to the Mika railway station. A section of the track bed showed a gap approximately one meter wide. The incident was reported by TV Republika. According to the station, police received information yesterday about an explosion in the area.

The Mazovian police reported that today, shortly before 8:00 a.m., near the Mika station on railway line No. 7 (Warsaw–Dorohusk), the driver of a Mazovian Railways passenger train traveling from Warsaw West to Dęblin reported “irregularities in the railway infrastructure near the village of Życzyn.”

Emergency services were dispatched to the site, and passengers and crew were evacuated from the train.

“Preliminary inspections revealed damage to a section of the tracks, which caused the train to stop,” the police said.

The X account “Dyspozytura Trakcji” reported that the gap in the tracks was around 100 cm.

“It was most likely a deliberate attempt to damage the rail by detonating an explosive device,” the post stated.

According to information from TV Republika, this may have been an attempted act of sabotage.

“Yesterday, around 9:00 p.m., the police received information about an explosion in that area,” Adrian Stankowski reported on TV Republika.

According to the station, a long electric cable was found on the tracks, stretching toward a nearby parking lot.
