The Story of the Castle Clock

The first clock at the Royal Castle in Warsaw was created in 1622. Severely damaged during the bombings of 1939, it remained stopped at 11:15 a.m. until the castle’s ruins were further destroyed in 1944. The new clock, created by Warsaw’s artisans, was inaugurated on July 19, 1974, at 11:15 a.m. The clock, featuring four faces with expressive suns, is adorned with approximately 14 kg of pure gold.
