This Saturday marks the second anniversary of Donald Tusk once again becoming the country’s prime minister. Although, during the parliamentary campaign, the team now in power offered Poles 100 specifics, meaning electoral promises, a large portion of them has not been fulfilled. This was pointed out today during a press conference by Confederation. “We call on Prime Minister Tusk to fulfill his promises. The promises he made to Poles while coming to power, and if he is unable to keep them, then we call on him to voluntarily resign”, said Michał Wawer, an MP from the National Movement.
On 13 December 2023, the new government was sworn in, with Donald Tusk at its head. The politicians of the ruling team repeatedly stated, even during the election campaign, that their primary goal was to remove Law and Justice (PiS) from power. They also had for Poles a series of promises which they themselves called “100 specifics for the first 100 days.”
To mark the upcoming second anniversary of Tusk’s government, numerous polls are being conducted to check how Poles evaluate the work of both the cabinet and its head.
And, for example, according to a survey by UCE Research commissioned by Onet, the number of dissatisfied respondents significantly outweighs his supporters. To cite the results: 33.1 percent of those surveyed speak positively about the prime minister’s achievements. Much more, as many as 42.6 percent, gave him a negative assessment.
Fulfilling promises or resigning
Confederation held a press conference today summarizing the two years of Tusk’s government. MP Michał Wawer from the National Movement pointed out the ruling team’s unfulfilled promises.
Two years ago, Civic Platform came to power under slogans including the repair of the healthcare system. […] In their 100 specifics, they promised unlimited access to services, they promised, in short, that they would fix everything and that everyone in this system would be better off, he began.
He also referred to the dramatic situation of the Polish healthcare system. “Unfortunately, after two years we can see that nothing remains of those promises, that after these two years all the already existing, deep, systemic problems of the healthcare system have only further worsened”, he stressed.
“We call on Prime Minister Tusk to fulfill his promises. The promises he made to Poles while coming to power, and if he is unable to fulfill them, then we call on him to voluntarily resign, to admit that he is unable to carry out his own program, that he is unable to fix the healthcare system and that he is ready to leave this in the hands of people who […] will actually be able to reform the healthcare system,” he appealed.
