This is another development involving Dawid Kacprzyk – a former city councilor from Civic Coalition (KO) and the former coordinator of the Emergency Department at Warsaw’s Southern Hospital. The news outlet Zero.pl has revealed the circumstances surrounding the death of a 61-year-old woman who was admitted to the Emergency Department of the Masovian Bródno Hospital with symptoms of a heart attack. According to the outlet’s findings, Kacprzyk was the physician who initially examined the patient. The woman’s family has notified prosecutors, who are now investigating the case as a suspected instance of involuntary manslaughter.
According to Zero.pl, the tragic events unfolded on May 14. Grażyna began feeling unwell near Bródno Hospital. She complained of severe chest pain, and her blood pressure reached a dangerously high level of 220/147. An ambulance was called and transported her to the hospital’s Emergency Department.
According to the publication, the initial tests performed after her admission already indicated an acute heart attack. Despite this, Zero.pl reports that the woman did not receive appropriate treatment for several hours.
Heart Attack Allegedly Visible in Initial Tests
Zero.pl reports that Dawid Kacprzyk was the physician who admitted the patient to the Emergency Department. According to the outlet’s findings, neither he nor the other doctors on duty recognized that the woman was suffering from an acute heart attack.
Journalists note that it was not only the ECG results that pointed to a cardiac emergency. Laboratory test results also allegedly confirmed that the patient was experiencing a heart attack. Nevertheless, according to the outlet, instead of immediately initiating appropriate treatment, doctors ordered, among other procedures, a non-contrast CT scan, while the patient was given pain medication.
The 61-year-old woman’s condition reportedly deteriorated rapidly several hours later. She was eventually transferred to the cardiology department but died shortly afterward.
Experts: The Heart Attack Was Missed
According to Zero.pl, the outlet obtained the patient’s medical records and submitted them for review by two independent specialists – a cardiologist and an emergency medicine physician. Both reportedly concluded that the Emergency Department staff failed to diagnose the acute heart attack despite the available test results clearly indicating the condition.
The outlet also reports that the medical documentation prepared after the patient’s death listed an acute heart attack as the cause of death.
Prosecutors Launch Investigation
The deceased woman’s family decided to notify law enforcement authorities. According to Zero.pl, the complaint specifically named Dawid Kacprzyk. Since mid-July, prosecutors have been conducting an investigation into suspected involuntary manslaughter.
