Demonstration of Support for Błaszczak. Kaczyński: Charges Against Former Defense Minister Are an Anti-Polish Act

“If, without any legal basis, Minister Błaszczak has to face charges, it can be said that this is not only a violation of the law but also an anti-Polish act, in the interest of external forces. This must be clearly stated,” said Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, today during a demonstration in front of the prosecutor’s office on Nowowiejska Street in Warsaw.

The former Defense Minister is scheduled to hear charges at 10 a.m. at the prosecutor’s office for declassifying the plan of the “first Tusk government regarding the surrender of half of Poland without a fight.” Since 9:30 a.m., a demonstration in support of Mariusz Błaszczak has been taking place in front of the prosecutor’s office.

“Błaszczak Acted Democratically”

Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized that Błaszczak “played a key role in ensuring that Poland has an army, as the previous situation with 95,000 soldiers was essentially a lack of an army.”

“For Poland to be able to defend its borders, a plan was created—a grand plan, prepared not by civilians but by the General Staff, in two versions. One was chosen, and the one who implemented this plan with great energy and organizational talent was Minister Błaszczak. This had the support of the vast majority of Poles, but unfortunately, it angered those who had previously worked to leave Poland defenseless. Today, unfortunately, they are triumphing,” said Kaczyński.

“If, without any legal basis, Minister Błaszczak has to face charges, it can be said that this is not only a violation of the law but also an anti-Polish act, in the interest of external forces. This must be clearly stated. Those who are behind this serve foreign forces, those who want Poland to be weak and subordinated. They are exploiting the war in Ukraine and other crises to create a single European state under German and, to some extent, French leadership. A state that would reduce Poland to an insignificant region with no sovereignty,” he added.

According to Kaczyński, Błaszczak did “what he was supposed to do.”

“He did what every democratic politician should do. In Poland, there is a division—the establishment, shaped since the 1980s, with 1989 being a turning point, believes that Polish citizens have no right to know. They should make electoral decisions without any knowledge of reality—who they are voting for, what their past is, and what those who are to govern or advise the government have done. In a democracy, citizens should be well-informed. The minister’s act was that of a democratic politician, an act of democracy. And for this, he is to be punished,” Kaczyński assessed.

Superstate Threatens Poland

Jarosław Kaczyński believes that “today, attempts are already being made to strip our state of the right to manage its own army and make purchases where we believe it is most effective for our armed forces.”

He outlined the dangers of a possible “superstate.”

“After the creation of this ‘state,’ the government may still be appointed in Warsaw, but it will have no say. Perhaps the time will come when it will merely be the administration of some region. Poland’s independence, regained in 1989, will once again become a historical incident, culminating in the unfortunate 2023 elections. We must oppose this. The only force that can oppose this is the Polish nation, as Poles still have voting rights,” said the PiS leader.

He added that “what is happening is another very important point in the operation against Poland, against our security.”

Kaczyński: Remember Barbara Skrzypek

He also appealed to remember Barbara Skrzypek, who passed away last week.

“Let us remember that this government is capable of going very far. Not only does it not back down, admit guilt, or make corrections, but in the brazen posts of a certain Tusk, it announces that it will continue and even intensify its actions. We are in a specific situation today—on one hand, this is escalating, and on the other, we have a chance to reverse it. We have the opportunity to carry out a simple operation, an electoral operation, which will be the beginning of change in our country,” said the PiS leader.

Błaszczak is to report to the Military Affairs Division of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw to be formally charged and questioned as a suspect. The notification of suspicion of a crime committed by the PiS politician was filed with the prosecutor’s office last summer by the head of the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW), General Jarosław Stróżyk. The case concerns the declassification of a fragment of defense plans related to the so-called Vistula Line.
