Tomorrow, the bills are expected to reach the president’s desk, Donald Tusk announced while presenting the government’s “Lower Fuel Prices” (CPN) package. He stated that the measures could lead to fuel prices dropping by 1.2 PLN per liter even before the holidays.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced at a press conference that an extraordinary government meeting would take place at 6 p.m. Decisions taken during the meeting are expected to affect fuel prices before the holidays.
The head of government said that Finance Minister Andrzej Domański and Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka would provide details about the measures.
CPN Package
The entire package, which will also include legislative changes, will be called CPN, standing for “Lower Fuel Prices”. The government bills are expected to be processed by parliament and reach President Karol Nawrocki’s desk for signature by Friday.
Proposed measures include, among others, reducing the VAT rate on fuel from 23% to 8%. Maximum fuel prices at stations are also to be set. Any surplus will additionally accrue interest provided by the state.
Donald Tusk stated that maximum fuel prices will be determined daily by the Minister of Energy.
The Prime Minister announced that fuel prices could fall by about 1.2 PLN per liter even before Easter. Poles have been waiting a long time for government action since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East on February 28 this year. Fuel prices at stations are steadily rising – the price of a liter of diesel is already approaching 9 PLN.
