The president signed the laws yesterday shortly after 7:30 p.m. yet the Prime Minister’s Office has still not published them in the Journal of Laws. And there was so much urgency, journalist Krzysztof Berenda pointed out to those in power. Until the laws are submitted for publication, which falls directly under the prime minister’s authority, there will be no lower fuel prices.
“Mr. President, the bill is already on your desk, Polish women and men are waiting for your signature,” this was the message posted by Civic Coalition shortly after the fuel price reduction bills left parliament. However, the pressure did not last long, President Karol Nawrocki signed the bills aboard a plane while traveling to the United States for the CPAC conference.
It might have seemed that the pace imposed from the very beginning of work on the bills would be maintained. However, with the arrival of the weekend, things slowed down. This sudden inaction was pointed out by Krzysztof Berenda, a journalist from RMF FM.
“An awkward situation. The president signed the laws yesterday shortly after 7:30 p.m.… yet the Prime Minister’s Office has still not published them in the Journal of Laws. And there was so much urgency,”
he recalls the government’s stance from just dozens of hours earlier.
“Mr. Prime Minister, the bill is already on your desk, Polish women and men are waiting ;),”
he addresses Donald Tusk.
The inaction is also criticized by Paweł Szefernaker, head of the president’s political cabinet:
“The law is ready. The president’s signature is there. Only one thing is missing: action by the government. The prime minister is silent. The spokesperson is silent. The Government Legislation Centre is silent. And Poles continue to pay for your inaction. Publish it! Today!”
the politician writes.
At the time of publication of this article, the aforementioned laws are still absent from the Journal of Laws. The most recent entry is a “regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration dated March 27, 2026, amending the regulation on the temporary restoration of border controls for persons crossing the state border constituting an internal border,” published on Friday.
Publication in the Journal of Laws is the prime minister’s responsibility. The head of government makes the relevant entries through the Government Legislation Centre. In the case of the fuel price reduction laws, the new regulations will come into force the day after they appear in the Journal.
Apart from the lack of any prospect of fuel price reductions this weekend, further increases are also possible. On Saturday, Orlen raised the wholesale price of Ekodiesel by 171 PLN per cubic meter and the wholesale price of unleaded petrol Eurosuper 95 by 103 PLN per cubic meter, according to data published by the company.
