The German media do not stop attacking President Nawrocki. Even before his plane landed in Berlin, they described the head of the Polish state as a “courier with a bill” (a reference to demands for reparations for German crimes), and even as “a guest who would be better left unwelcome.” The festival of hatred toward the President of Poland has continued even after his visit ended.
What hurts the Germans most is… money. A nation that throughout its history has fattened itself only on what it plundered, murdering the rightful owners in the process, and taking satisfaction in destroying whatever it could not steal, cannot stomach the fact that some “insolent little Poles,” whom Frederick II once wished to teach “German culture,” dare to mention the need for accountability for the crimes, destruction, and looting committed during World War II.
The German authorities, along with the media at their service, therefore, attack the Polish president relentlessly. Unlike their protégé, Tusk, he has no intention whatsoever of abandoning reparations claims and even states their amount clearly – 6 trillion złotys.
Tageszeitung sneered that during his visit to Germany, the Polish president had a real “split” to perform. “He had to demonstrate diplomatic sensitivity. The right-wing nationalist politician on Tuesday had to address the anti-German sentiments in his homeland,” lectured the paper’s journalists Barbara Oertel and Cem-Odos Gueler.
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung was even more brutal. “FAZ” went so far as to issue outright threats, “advising” that politicians focused on their national interests, including Karol Nawrocki, should reflect on whether “burdening relations with Germany with the issue of reparations really serves Poland.”
Berthold Kohler, an employee of this newspaper, overstepped all bounds of insolence by writing that despite “PiS’s hostile propaganda,” Berlin continues to work on improving relations with Poland and remains a close ally of Warsaw in the European Union and NATO.
“It is not Germany that threatens Poland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but Russia,” noted Kohler, who also “wondered” why Nawrocki and PiS prefer an alliance with Trump over cooperation with democratic Germany.
Since Herr Kohler is wondering, let us remind him (assuming he does not know) that it was not the USA that invaded Poland, murdered 6 million Polish citizens, destroyed property, and stole assets worth billions of złotys… It was not the USA that, in agreement with Russia, destroyed the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. All of this was done by Germany – Germany, which, at least since the 18th century and with only brief interruptions, has remained in close military and economic alliance with Russia. An alliance that has always been directed against Poland!
