Armand Duplantis once again proved his dominance in pole vaulting by setting a new world record of 6.26 meters at the Diamond League meeting in Chorzów. The Swedish athlete, who already held the ten best results in history, achieved this incredible feat on his third attempt in 2024. With this record, Duplantis continues to redefine the limits of his sport, adding another milestone to his already stellar career, which includes two Olympic gold medals and numerous World and European Championship titles. For this accomplishment, he earned a prize of $50,000.
Ingebrigtsen’s 3000m World Record
Not to be outdone, Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen shattered the world record in the 3000 meters, crossing the finish line in 7:17.55. His record-breaking run was met with cheers from the crowd, who had already witnessed Duplantis’s historic jump. Ingebrigtsen led the race from start to finish, leaving behind Berihu Aregawi of Ethiopia, who clocked in at 7:21.28, and Yomif Kejelcha, also from Ethiopia, who finished in 7:28.44.
The event was also marked by a record-breaking attendance at the Śląski Stadium, with 42,357 spectators filling the stands. This set a new attendance record for the Memorial Kamila Skolimowska, surpassing the previous record from six years ago.
