Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz battled fiercely in the ATP Shanghai tournament’s round of 16, ultimately triumphing over resilient Zhizhen Zhang in a gruelling three-set showdown.
Hurkacz had breezed through the tournament’s early rounds, defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis and Yu Hsiou Hsu without dropping a set, while Zhang had to fight his way through three opponents to face the Polish star.
In the first set, Hurkacz dominated with strong serving, though he missed chances to break Zhang. The set was decided in a nail-biting tiebreak, which Hurkacz won 8-6.
The second set saw Hurkacz recover from an early deficit but was ultimately taken by Zhang, who broke the Polish player’s serve multiple times to win 6-4.
In the decisive set, both players showed respect for each other’s serves. Hurkacz maintained control, leading to a tense tiebreak that he won 7-4, securing his overall victory.
Fabian Marozsan, who sensationally defeated Casper Ruud in the round of 16, has also advanced to the quarterfinals. The ATP Shanghai tournament promises more thrilling action for tennis fans.
