Karol Nawrocki–Donald Trump One-on-One Meeting Planned During Polish President’s US Visit: New Details Emerge

Not only participation in Donald Trump’s birthday gala, but also a direct conversation between the presidents of Poland and the United States. Karol Nawrocki will hold a one-on-one meeting with the American leader, Donald Trump, during his visit to Washington. As the head of the International Policy Bureau, Marcin Przydacz, reported, the talks are expected to cover key issues related to Poland’s security, bilateral relations, as well as economic and energy cooperation.

President Karol Nawrocki received an invitation to the US leader Donald Trump’s birthday. The Polish head of state is scheduled to travel to the United States on Sunday. The visit will not have an official character.

Information about President Nawrocki’s visit to the US was confirmed by Marcin Przydacz on social media:

Nawrocki–Trump. There will be a “one-on-one” meeting

On Thursday, Marcin Przydacz stated at a press conference that President Nawrocki in Washington will speak directly with Donald Trump “about fundamental issues concerning Polish security, bilateral relations, and energy and economic cooperation”, including the issue of permanent US military bases in Poland.

Today on RMF FM, the head of the presidential International Policy Bureau provided more details about the Polish president’s visit to the United States. He said that meetings are planned both with President Trump and with political circles in Washington.

“Meetings at the Capitol are scheduled for Monday, and meetings are also planned on Sunday,” Przydacz said.

He added that “the main reason is participation in the celebration of the 80th birthday of the President of the United States, and we should rather look at it as a kind of distinction for Poland, that the Polish president is invited to such a birthday, which demonstrates very good personal relations”.

Asked whether a “one-on-one” meeting between the presidents of Poland and the United States will take place, he confirmed it.

The head of the International Policy Bureau was also asked about information published by The New York Times. The newspaper, citing two senior European officials, reported that the United States is planning to significantly reduce the number of its fighter jets and naval vessels assigned to NATO operations in Europe. According to these reports, allies were informed of the plans at the beginning of June. As The New York Times reports, the reductions would include decreasing the number of F-16 and F-15E fighter jets from around 150 to 100 aircraft, reducing the number of maritime patrol aircraft from 26 to 15, as well as withdrawing all aerial refueling aircraft previously available to Europe.

According to Przydacz, the institution cooperating with the Pentagon on the new strategy for the presence of US forces is primarily the Ministry of National Defence. “The Ministry of National Defence should know and should inform. The President’s Office is of course aware that the United States would like to reduce a certain presence in Europe”, he explained.

When asked whether the President’s Office had previously had access to the details reported by The New York Times, he replied that he personally did not have such information. “The Ministry of National Defence should have such knowledge. If it did, it should have passed it on to the President’s Office – it did not”, he added.
