Karol Nawrocki Granted Gun License. Reason? Threats from Russia

“I have access to a personal firearm. When the Russian Federation began targeting me and I received regular death threats, I went through the necessary procedures and obtained a gun license,” revealed Karol Nawrocki in an interview with Sławomir Mentzen. The civic presidential candidate, supported by the Law and Justice party (PiS), stated that he would not sign any new restrictions on obtaining firearm licenses.

One of the final questions from Sławomir Mentzen’s list concerned gun ownership—specifically whether Nawrocki would support legislation limiting access to firearms. Nawrocki emphasized that, even now, obtaining a gun license is already quite difficult.

During the interview, he also publicly disclosed for the first time that he himself holds a personal gun license for self-defense.

“This is the first time I’m saying this—I saved it for Dr. Sławomir Mentzen. I have access to a firearm. A personal one. When the Russian Federation started pursuing me and I was regularly threatened with death for dismantling Soviet propaganda monuments, I went through a lengthy process, several tests and preparations, and eventually gained access to a personal firearm. Because my life was threatened by a foreign state,” said Dr. Karol Nawrocki.

He added that the process of obtaining a gun license is extremely demanding, and at the time he received his permit, he was one of only four people in his province to have one.
