    Katowice Welcomes ESOF2024: A Celebration of Science and Innovation

    The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF2024) conference, slated for June in Katowice, commenced open registrations on Thursday, as announced by city authorities. This event is set to be a highlight of the festivities for the European City of Science Katowice 2024, showcasing the city’s dedication to scientific discourse and innovation.

    ESOF stands as Europe’s largest interdisciplinary debate on scientific culture, research, and innovation, emphasizing engagement “for society and with society.” Hosted biennially in a European City of Science, this year’s program, themed “Life Changing Science,” promises a comprehensive exploration of pivotal topics from energy transformation to digital innovation.

    Mayor Marcin Krupa highlighted the significance of Katowice hosting ESOF2024, underscoring the privilege bestowed upon European City of Science titleholders. Krupa encouraged active participation from residents, aligning with the city’s broader initiatives to engage the local community in scientific endeavours.

    Professor Michał Daszykowski, chair of the scientific committee of ESOF2024, emphasized the conference’s inclusive nature, aiming to demystify science and underscore its relevance to society. Despite its scientific focus, the conference embraces a popular element, acknowledging the profound impact of recent global events on the trajectory of scientific inquiry.

    Organized by the Academic Consortium – Katowice City of Science, ESOF2024 promises a dynamic program featuring discussions, lectures, workshops, and exhibitions over three days at the International Congress Center.
