Nawrocki submits new referendum request on EU climate policy

President Karol Nawrocki announced during a meeting with residents of Dębica that he has submitted a new request to hold a referendum on the European Union’s climate policy. Voters will be asked the following question: “Are you in favor of Poland implementing the European Union’s climate policy?”

“Just before leaving for Dębica, I submitted a second request for a referendum on the Green Deal,”

President Karol Nawrocki said.

He added that “the issue with the first attempt was the wording of the question.”

“At the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, we have prepared a completely new, straightforward question: ‘Are you in favor of Poland implementing the European Union’s climate policy?’

he said.

President Karol Nawrocki’s first request to hold a referendum on the EU’s climate policy was rejected by the Senate. The stated reason was the proposed referendum question, which, according to the Senate, was worded in a way that suggested a particular answer (a so-called leading question).
