Nord Stream damage: suspect arrested

Italian police have arrested a Ukrainian citizen suspected of coordinating attacks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office (GBA) reported on Thursday. He is accused, among other things, of causing an explosion and sabotage.

It was added that the detainee, Serhiy K., will appear before a German judge.

As the weekly Der Spiegel reported on Thursday, K. was arrested on Wednesday evening in the Rimini province on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant (ENA). According to security service sources, it is not yet known when K. may be handed over to the German authorities.
