The Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy announces that Poland and Slovakia will enhance their collaboration, exchanging experiences and best practices in managing and implementing EU funds. Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Grzegorz Puda, and Minister of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatization of the Slovak Republic, Peter Balík signed a cooperation agreement on EU cohesion policy.
Poland and Slovakia’s Common Goals
The visit of the Slovak government delegation to Warsaw, led by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery Plan and European Funds, Lívia Vašáková, further solidifies the commitment to shared initiatives in utilizing EU cohesion policy. Both countries acknowledge the crucial role of cohesion funds in fostering economic development.
Addressing Challenges and Seeking Solutions
Minister Puda emphasizes the importance of tackling current challenges such as energy transformation and the situation in Ukraine, which have significant implications for social, economic, and territorial cohesion within the EU. To address these issues, innovative solutions that enhance accessibility, flexibility, and effectiveness in utilizing cohesion policy funds will be pursued jointly with Slovakia.
Cross-Border Cooperation
Continuing the expert collaboration between the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatization of Slovakia, both countries aim to leverage successful experiences from cross-border cooperation programs like INTERREG Poland-Slovakia.
Poland’s Leadership and Sharing of Experiences
As a leader in utilizing EU cohesion funds, Poland is eager to share its experiences with Slovakian partners. The focus is on streamlining the implementation of EU funds, promoting Integrated Territorial Investments, and showcasing achievements in the EU Transport Projects Center field.

Recent years have witnessed regular high-level meetings between Poland and Slovakia in bilateral and multilateral formats. The two nations maintain excellent political relations, and Minister Puda anticipates effectively leveraging the outcomes of their cooperation during Poland’s EU Presidency in the first half of 2025.
