    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

In a spectacular prelude to the upcoming World Cup in Indonesia this November, Poland’s U18 squad delivered a commanding 5-0 victory against the Czech Republic. The star of the match was undeniably Daniel Mikołajewski, who achieved a remarkable hat-trick in just seven minutes during the first half. Mikołajewski, who plays for Italy’s Parma, has now scored ten goals for Poland since September, showcasing his exceptional talent.

Poland’s young talents, including debutants Michał Gurgul from Lech Poznań and Krzysztof Kolanko from Górnik Zabrze, displayed their prowess. Additionally, Karol Borys from Śląsk Wrocław, recently recognized as one of the most promising players in the 2006 age group, made his presence felt on the bench.

After a convincing 4-0 victory against Slovakia, this win against the Czech Republic posed as another significant test for Marcin Włodarski’s team. The scoreboard reflected Poland’s dominance, with a 3-0 lead just 19 minutes into the first half, courtesy of Mikołajewski’s brilliance. Oskar Tomczyk extended the lead to 4-0 with a penalty in the 59th minute, and Mike Huras replicated the feat 20 minutes later.

With the squad size now at 35 after the October matches, the coaching staff faces the challenging task of selecting the final 21 players for the World Cup journey. Poland’s campaign kicks off on November 11 against Japan, followed by matches against Senegal and Argentina, promising an exciting tournament ahead.
