On December 19, police searched the Dominican monastery in Lublin, reportedly linked to accusations against PiS MP Marcin Romanowski. Officers allegedly used drones and photographed living quarters, raising concerns among the Dominicans about the motives and legality of the action.
Dominican Order’s Statement
Father Szymon Popławski, representing the Polish Dominican Province, demanded explanations from authorities, emphasizing the order’s opposition to being involved in political disputes. He decried the unauthorized media leaks and inaccuracies, calling for truth and respect in public discourse.
Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak defended the police, asserting their actions were based on credible information related to serious crimes. He encouraged legal remedies for grievances and dismissed claims of hostility toward the Church.
Marcin Romanowski called for transparency, urging the Prime Minister to clarify the situation. As tensions rise, the Dominicans hope for unity and integrity during this challenging time.
