Dorota Rasińska-Samoćko becomes the first Polish woman to summit all 14 eight-thousanders, marking a historic moment in mountaineering.
Historic Feat in the Himalayas
Dorota Rasińska-Samoćko has made history by becoming the first Polish woman to summit all 14 of the world’s eight-thousanders. On October 9, 2024, she reached the peak of Shishapangma (8027 meters), completing her extraordinary mountaineering journey. Three other Poles had achieved this before her: Jerzy Kukuczka, Krzysztof Wielicki, and Piotr Pustelnik.
“Speedy Lady” of the Mountains
Known for her speed and determination, Rasińska-Samoćko earned the nickname “Speedy Lady” among Nepalese Sherpas. She completed this monumental task in just under three years, a timeline that dwarfs the decades it took others. This feat was part of her ambitious “Double Crown” project, aiming for both the 14 eight-thousanders and the Seven Summits of the world.
Previous Triumphs
Rasińska-Samoćko also made headlines in 2022 as the third Polish woman to summit K2. Her remarkable journey demonstrates unparalleled perseverance, organization, and a passion for high-altitude adventure.
