Polish Triathlete Roksana Słupek Secures Last-Minute Paris Olympics Qualification

In an exhilarating finish, Roksana Słupek has earned her place in the upcoming Paris Olympics. The Polish triathlete clinched her qualification during the World Triathlon Championship Series event in Cagliari on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has been in exceptional form this season. In April, Słupek secured a third-place finish at the World Cup in Chengdu, China. Just a week ago, she narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. She also triumphed at the Asian Triathlon Cup in Taizhou.

Olympic spots are determined by a two-year ranking system, requiring athletes to be among the top 55 globally. Słupek’s 16th place finish in Cagliari confirmed her Olympic qualification just in time, as the rankings close on Monday.

Originally from Bydgoszcz, Słupek will make her Olympic debut in Paris, marking Poland’s return to Olympic triathlon after an eight-year hiatus. Polish triathletes did not compete in Tokyo 2021.
