    Polish WindWhisper Racing Team won Leg 1 of The Ocean Race

    The Polish yacht WindWhisper managed to achieve unprecedented success during the first stage of the renowned regatta The Ocean Race. It was possible thanks to the meticulous preparation and teamwork of the entire crew.

    The Polish yacht WindWhisper was successful in the first stage of the renowned regatta The Ocean Race, due to its impeccable setup, brilliant tactics, and the skill of the entire crew.

    On Saturday, January 21, 2023, the WindWhisper yacht triumphed as it crossed the finish line near Mindelo in the Cape Verde Islands, with the white-and-red flag fluttering in the breeze.

    “WindWhisper Racing Team first VO65 in Cabo Verde! The Polish boat skippered by Pablo Arrarte crossed the finish line at 14h 11m 14s UTC with an elapsed time of 06 days, 01 hour, 11 minutes and 14 seconds,”

    The Ocean Race wrote on Twitter.

    The WindWhisper Racing Team has already made a name for itself and is looking forward to the return of the VO65 class regatta this June. As the regatta resumes, the team is in a prime position to make an impression in the two remaining stages of the competition. The main trophy will be won by the best team after three races: Alicante – Mindelo, Aarhus – The Hague and The Hague – Genoa. 

    Poland takes part after 50 years

    It is worth noting that WindWhisper’s participation in The Ocean Race is the first appearance of a Polish yacht in this prestigious event for 50 years. In 1973, two Polish yachts sailed in the race – Copernicus under the command of Zygfryd Perlicki (11th place) and Otago, led by Zdzisław Pieńkawa (14th place).
