On Sunday evening, approximately 10,000 residents in the Podlaskie Voivodeship were left without power due to severe winds, according to PGE Dystrybucja. Firefighters responded to over 280 incidents, primarily involving fallen trees.
Weather Warnings and Impact
IMGW issued weather warnings until midnight, with a Level 2 alert in several counties predicting winds up to 100 km/h. The rest of the region faced a Level I alert, with gusts reaching 85 km/h. The strongest winds were expected before 8 PM.
Efforts to Restore Power
Agnieszka Bajerska from PGE Dystrybucja reported that the storm caused significant damage to the power infrastructure, including downed trees and severed power lines. She assured that crews are actively working to locate and repair the damage.
Canceled Events
Due to the weather, several outdoor events were canceled. The 27th Polish Championships in Anything That Floats and the final day of the Podlaska Oktawa Kultur (Podlasie Octave of Cultures) were among the affected events. The Wasilków City Culture Center relocated its planned events indoors.
