“Someone like me…” Trzaskowski envisions his role in the White House

“Let everyone close their eyes and reflect: in that yellow chair in the White House—wouldn’t someone like me defend Polish interests better […] than people—such as my main rivals—who have zero experience in this field?” Rafał Trzaskowski asked today on Polsat News, immediately supplying his own answer.

Less than two months remain before the first round of the presidential election. The deputy leader of the Civic Platform continues to lead in the polls, though it is likely that the second round will determine the next President of the Republic of Poland.

Trzaskowski’s campaign team—as well as the candidate himself—are well aware of this, and he has been increasingly striking a more conservative tone, mindful of the fact that conservative voters form the majority in Poland.

Today, Trzaskowski emphasized his diplomatic skills and his strong relationships with individuals in Donald Trump’s political orbit.

“Let everyone close their eyes and reflect: in that yellow chair in the White House—wouldn’t it be better for someone like me to defend Polish interests there? Someone who cut his teeth on diplomacy, knows Republican politicians, and understands how to engage with them? Or people—like my key opponents—who have absolutely no experience in this area?”

he asked.

He was not inclined to yield the floor to the interviewer. “One simply needs to become aware of this,” he asserted.
