The 16th edition of the Young Design competition

Innovative design and industrial design projects gained recognition during the 16th edition of the Young Design competition for young designers organised by the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw. The competition jury awarded several innovative solutions that can contribute to improving our lives and the environment. As part of the celebrations of the 16th anniversary edition of the competition, a special exhibition has been organised to showcase both this year’s awarded designs and a retrospective, presenting the work of the winners from the last 15 years of the competition.

Design and applied art are becoming increasingly important in society and young designers are trying to outdo each other with innovative ideas. Today’s design is not only about aesthetics and style, but first and foremost about creating future-oriented solutions that can improve our quality of life. The Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw plays an important role in the development and promotion of young talent.

    The main prize

The main prize, the Professor Wanda Telakowska Scholarship worth PLN 20000, funded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, was awarded to Jacek Janas for his SelfHytte project. This is a system supporting the installation of RES (renewable energy sources) equipment in modular homes. This project was also honoured with special awards from the Polish National Foundation and ARP Budownictwo Sp. z o.o. Responding to the growing demand for ecological and energy-saving solutions, the SelfHytte project offers easy installation and functionality, enabling the use of technologies such as photovoltaics, recuperation, wind turbines, energy storage and grey water harvesting. The fireplace also plays an important role, which not only creates a cosy atmosphere, but also supports the operation of the entire system.
