The ruling coalition in Poland is increasingly amplifying a narrative that questions the outcome of the recent presidential election, in which independent candidate Karol Nawrocki emerged victorious. The actions of Donald Tusk’s government have not gone unnoticed in the West. A prominent Washington-based political outlet has raised concerns in its daily briefing regarding what Tusk and his team are allegedly planning.
For several days now, members of the Civic Coalition have been vocally promoting claims that challenge the legitimacy of the presidential election, in which Karol Nawrocki defeated the Civic Coalition’s candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski. What began with radical factions such as Silni Razem and politician Roman Giertych has now been adopted by ministers within Tusk’s administration.
These actions represent a direct assault on democratic principles and undermine public trust in the Polish state.
Influential U.S. Outlet Recognizes What Tusk is Doing
There is growing awareness in the West of these developments. Washington Reporter, a widely respected American news outlet regarded as a key source for U.S. media and policymakers, highlights the actions of Donald Tusk’s government in its latest daily briefing. The brief is titled: “Hey, I’ve Seen This Before.”
Washington Reporter draws attention to a statement made by Michał Rachoń, Program Director at TV Republika.
“Michał Rachoń, one of Poland’s leading journalists, warns that the conservative candidate who won Poland’s presidential election—and who had the backing of Donald Trump—may be on the verge of losing his victory. ‘Did the liberal-left government of Donald Tusk lose the presidential election? As is often the case with such people, they are now trying to nullify the result,’ Rachoń warned. ‘While the world is focused on wars and international summits, a decisive battle for democracy is unfolding in Poland. Do not look away.’” – the Washington Reporter reports.
The article includes a screenshot of Rachoń’s original post, cited by the influential outlet. Previously, British conservative commentator Nile Gardiner also warned that the threat to democracy unfolding in Poland deserves attention and condemnation from the White House.
