The Enigma of Maciej Maciak: “Russian Mouthpiece” or Just Another Candidate?

Last Friday in Końskie, a presidential debate took place—apparently organized by Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign staff. The organization of the event itself caused more controversy than the candidates’ speeches. However, among those who showed up in Końskie was a candidate about whom Poles know very little. One of the other candidates, Krzysztof Stanowski, then posed a question to Maciej Maciak: “Who are you?” Maciak answered, yet Poles remain unsure who he actually is. A few years ago, the late Dr. Jerzy Targalski wrote about Maciak in an article on the Niezalezna.pl website, describing him as “the Russian voice from Włocławek.”

On Friday evening, Końskie (Świętokrzyskie Province) once again became the focus of political attention. The debate—most likely organized by Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign—was originally supposed to feature Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki, an independent candidate supported by PiS. Ultimately, more candidates appeared in Końskie than expected. One of them was Maciej Maciak, whom even the candidates themselves knew little about.

Finally, it was Krzysztof Stanowski who asked Maciak the question, “Who are you?”

“A simple Pole. Maybe from your perspective, with your YouTuber subscriber count, that’s nothing and you don’t notice it. But I thought, since you’re a presenter—because I’m a journalist—you tell the world, you tell Poles what life is like, and you don’t know who I am?” responded Maciak, visibly irritated.

In the end, we didn’t learn much about the candidate from his own words, but several years ago, on the pages of Niezalezna.pl, the late Dr. Jerzy Targalski had more to say about Maciak in an article titled “A Russian mouthpiece from Włocławek.”

“The online channel CW24tv from Włocławek is run by Maciej Maciak. In the program ‘Musisz to wiedzieć’ (You Need to Know), he tells his viewers what they should think. ‘The Russians expressed themselves in the referendum… they seceded from Ukraine based on international laws… that area is part of another country, and it’s none of Ukraine’s business what happens with Crimea,’”

wrote Jerzy Targalski.

Moreover, in his show, Maciak claimed that one must “put appropriate pressure on all those who want to set us against our eastern neighbors.”

In another piece, Dr. Targalski wrote that “Maciej Maciak, the owner of the Russian Voice from Włocławek, crushed the Konfederacja party for lacking a principled, class-based stance.”

“‘Those dull heads in Konfederacja,’” he wrote, “should invite all the crackpots, because one Czerniak is not enough. According to Maciak, they should have opened their doors to the Turbosłowianie (Turboslavs), the forest-dwelling panslavist Kudliński (from the Słowian Party), Olszański (aka Jabłonowski) and his flock, as well as Zagórsky and Pawela—whom the globalists are supposedly lulling to sleep via Wi-Fi. So first, Pawela would need to be awakened,”

Jerzy Targalski opined.
