The Orlen Foundation has donated more than PLN 2.3 million to the Children’s Health Centre in Warsaw, supporting the youngest patients

The Orlen Foundation has donated more than PLN 2.3 million to the “Pomnik – Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka” Institute in Warsaw. This generous donation will enable the hospital to purchase two specialised vehicles, adapted for the transport of nutritional preparations and an ambulance. In addition, the funds will be used to upgrade the ambulance entrance and the treatment rooms in the Emergency Room.

The donation was the result of the commitment of PKN Orlen’s CEO, Daniel Obajtek. Orlen has consistently increased its support for the Children’s Health Centre, one of the most important medical centres for young patients from across the country. Obajtek expressed his desire for the Centre’s medical staff to be able to use state-of-the-art equipment and for patients to be treated in increasingly better conditions. Since 2018, Orlen has already donated more than PLN 4 million to the hospital.

During the press conference, the director of the “Pomnik – Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka” Institute, Dr Marek Migdał, thanked the donors for their support, noting that the hospital was established thanks to the generosity of such individuals and companies. The vehicles purchased will be used in the kidney and liver transplant programme, providing food for children being treated at home. Dr Migdał emphasised that thanks to this support, more than five hundred children from all over Poland will avoid the need for long-term hospitalisation.

Last year, the Orlen Foundation also financed the purchase of an ‘Onkobus’, which transports children to radiotherapy. Thanks to the Foundation’s support, a one-day hospitalisation centre was set up, providing specialist diagnostics for patients with gastrointestinal diseases. The Foundation also provided funds for the purchase of two other vehicles: a transplant vehicle and a vehicle for transporting nutritional preparations.

As of 2019, the Orlen Foundation has donated more than PLN 204 million to support healthcare. In addition, its volunteers are involved in activities for the Children’s Health Centre. This year, nearly fifty of the corporation’s employees have been involved in cleaning up the areas around the Institute and renovating the playground. Marta Soluch, member of the Orlen Foundation’s management board, emphasised that the Foundation also supports the University Children’s Hospital in Kraków and carries out

    programmes for local communities.

The Orlen Foundation’s activities are aimed at responding and supporting where there is a real need. The Children’s Health Centre is an excellent example of this. Thanks to their support, the lives of almost half a thousand young patients will gain comfort and the quality of their daily functioning will improve.
