Polish company Thorium Space S.A. has teamed up with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the HummingSAT project, marking a significant milestone in their quest to develop Poland’s first telecommunication satellite. The collaborative effort, also involving Swiss company SWISSto12, focuses on constructing small telecommunication satellites for geostationary orbit (GEO).
Thorium Space, responsible for defining the mission, designing the SmallGEO satellite, and developing the digital payload, aims to create a fully Polish telecommunication satellite. The SmallGEO satellite, weighing approximately one ton, is poised to revolutionize satellite technology, offering commercial, military, or governmental applications.
Paweł Rymaszewski, the Founder and CEO of Thorium Space, emphasizes the revolutionary approach to satellite development, leveraging Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). The SmallGEO satellite is designed to be adaptable, catering to various frequency needs, including those used by NATO.
